Zero2Code Hands-on Coding Program 2024

Work on real-world projects, leveling yourself up into a top-tier developer.

No matter where you're starting from, even with zero prior coding experience, the program is built to cater to your unique journey. Choose your adventure starting with one of the following tracks:

i. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD),
ii. Web3 (experimental),
iii. Quantum Computing (experimental+), or
iv. AI/ML (experimental++)

The program will be helmed by the creator of Zero 2 Code, RJF. His guidance and mentorship will be a unique privilege for successful applicants.

Message from RJF: In my web2 life, I study computational astrophysics, particularly galaxy formation and evolution using magnetohydrodynamic simulations and have authored over ten peer-reviewed articles appearing in world-renowned international journals. In my web3 life, I've developed over a dozen different discord bots, minting dapps, and smart contracts (each) for NFT projects. I'm currently developing quantum-accelerated physics-informed neural network [redacted] solvers with a colleague at APL (classified unfortunately) and playing around with post-quantum-cryptography.

As part of this time-limited opportunity, you'll master UNIX operating systems, git version control, an agile software development lifestyle and more! Inspired by academic research methodologies, each day of the program is designed to be a blend of education and practical application, including an educational task such as attending an interactive lecture, reading a peer-reviewed journal article, or working on textbook exercises. Feel inspired, prototype and build with your new knowledge, and iterate to perfection.

In the AstroCFD track, you will learn how to:

Real world projects. Encounter and overcome real hurdles, experience the challenges faced by academics solicited by world-leading tech companies such as RenTec, Google, Meta, and Amazon, and demonstrate your proficiency. Who knows? This may convert into the best job you ever had. Example projects include: (i) Black Hole Accretion: the Interplay between Gravity and Viscous Transport, (ii) When Galaxies Collide: The Shared Fate of The Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxies, (iii) Plan(et) B? General Circulation Models for Exo-"Earths", (iv) Save the Earth! Fusion is the Future.

In the Web3 track, you will:

We strive to gather bright and curious minds to collaboratively and rapidly expand your knowledge by solving our sponsor's projects, including (i) web3 code auditing, (ii) building a flight deals discord bot, (iii) on-chain gaming, (iv) dynamic NFTs, (v) yours here!

We are looking for highly motivated, self-taught individuals who want to learn how to deploy code to solve real world projects in a fast and stimulating environment.

In the Quantum Computing track, you will

You will immediately start working on real and challenging problems to tackle with QC, learn about state-of-the-art techniques, and be guided by expert mentors. Example projects include: (i) Beating Wall Street: Portfolio Optimization with Quantum Annealing, (ii) Saving the World: Quantum-Accelerated Climate Models, (iii) Out of this World: Quantum-Accelerated Astronomy & Astrophysics, (iv) Quantum-Resistant Real-Time Audio, (v) Quantum-Resistant Electronic Medical Record System, (vi) The Future of DeFi: Quantum-Resistant Smartchains.

Schedule

The schedule of this summer program is designed to provide an intensive learning experience, from introductory materials to building a baseline solution for your chosen project, all the way to the final project presentations and reports.

Before: Are you an enterprise? We will consult with you to tailor your sponsored project.
Week 1: Introduction to your track's programming languages (AstroCFD: Python, Fortran, C, and C++; Web3: Python, Solidity, HTML+CSS+Javascript (ReactJS, NextJS, Hardhat, and many more frameworks), introduction to git and version control, introduction to UNIX and setting up your developer environment.
Week 2: Intermediate programming topics & literature review tailored to your project.
Week 3: Advanced programming topics and coding a baseline solution.
Week 4: Writing a professional report using LaTeX and presentation of your solution.

Review of applications is on an on-going basis. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of July 8th. Successful applicants will start the program July 15th.

Requirements

Deliverables

In all tracks, you will write a report and deliver a presentation to share the knowledge you have obtained with the world. The report could take the form of an academic journal submission, company whitepaper, or blog article. The presentation could take the form of a talk or poster at a professional conference, as an invited talk at a univerisity or company, or our celebratory end-of-program online event. We also encourage you to log your work daily on you preferred social media platform(s) for the encouragement and accountability of your peers.

Submit the attached form to apply for the Zero 2 Code Hands-on Coding Program 2024 by July 1st, 2024 to receive full consideration.

Note, the program fees are:

For all tiers, payment plans are available (ask during the interview).
We are offering a 90% discount on the Web3, Quantumm Computing, and AI/ML tracks for a limited time only!

Note: by submitting information through this form, you are asserting that it is truthful, complete and accurate. Upon acceptance, we may ask you for the corresponding documented evidence, such as original degree certificates, proof of identity, enrollment certificates, etc. Application review is on a rolling basis, and slots may fill up much earlier than the application deadline.

This opportunity is specially crafted for you, as a testament to our commitment to your coding enrichment. We're excited to see you embark on this transformative journey!

Please write the name of the country in English, like Turkey, United Kingdom, Italy. This is to ensure compliance with technology embargoes and sanctions.

What exposure have you had to coding / quantum computing so far? This could be through university lectures, online courses, readings, projects (personal or professional) and other means. We're not expecting that you have had much (or any) of this, but we would like to understand what you have done already.

What are you looking to accomplish? This could be your goals for this specific program, but we rather want to know why you want to participate in this program - and what future experiences you may be hoping to land afterwards. What do you hope Ryan can help you with?

How many hours per week can you commit to working on this research program? What other commitments do you need to juggle? It's perfectly acceptable to have prior engagements or to take vacations, but the more you can put into the program, the more you will get out.

Indicate your preference by ranking (top choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice, 4th choice, or Please no!) each of the tracks (AstroCFD, Web3, Quantum Computing, AI/ML). You may also explain in one-to-two sentences what draws you to your top choice.
